Call For Speakers – Closed

Have A Talk Idea? We Want To Hear From You!

WordCamp Halifax is looking for speakers. Want to take to the stage to talk WordPress with 200 people? Got a story to tell? Some knowledge to share? Got some fancy tricks or techniques? Share it with Halifax’s thriving community.

We’re looking for 21 talks that cover a whole range of topics representing the WordPress ecosystem. Topics that appeal to new users, seasoned developers and designers. Bloggers, business owners, site builders, community organizers… and everyone in between.

Anyone with a passion for sharing is welcome to apply to be a speaker – we are not limited to professional public speakers or locals. Out-of-province, national and international speakers are welcomed!

Stuck for talk ideas? Check out our list of topics. Want to know how to write a killer submission? We Are All Awesome has a how-to on writing a compelling proposal.

The Details

Talks will be 45 minutes in total, breaking down to around 30 minutes for talk and 15 minutes for questions.

Speakers will be offered free admission to WordCamp Halifax 2017 and attend a special dinner in their honour, but we can not reimburse travel, lodging, or other expenses. As a disclaimer, all sessions will be videotaped. You will need to sign an A/V form in order to be eligible to speak.

Diversity Matters

WordCamp Halifax is committed to creating a diverse conference that is representative of the WordPress community. We welcome submissions from a diverse set of backgrounds, and particularly applications from under-represented groups in tech.

As a community-focused event, it’s important that we create a space where friends can get together, new relationships can be forged, ideas exchanged, and everyone feels comfortable. Harassment in any form will not be tolerated. This includes any harassing activity from speakers, sponsors, volunteers, or attendees. We reserve the right to remote, without refund, any attendee who does not adhere to our code of conduct.

Call for submissions deadline is May 1st.

Many thanks to the volunteer photographers of WordCamps. In particular, Jeremy Clarke for the Canadian WordCamps featured here.
